Job Description - Installation of PTC systems on passenger railroad locomotives. This includes installation of electronic components, running wires and cables through locomotive cabs and spaces, pneumatic valve, hose and pipe installation, wire/cable management and terminations. Also includes ability to perform fabrication of metal including drilling, cutting, grinding and painting. Troubleshooting. The installer must have the ability to properly operate electrical test and measurement equipment. The installation involves testing and, if necessary, troubleshooting, diagnosing and solving problems with the on-board PTC equipment installed in the field.

Job Description - Summary; The welder/Rail Shop Worker is responsible for assisting in general rail car maintenance and repair operations as well as straightening up shop and various maintenance functions. Performing MIG and Stick Welding in 1G and 2G positions on Heavy Structural Steel (Freight Locomotives). Handling of material during repairs and welding work under close supervision (until certified) and occasionally operate certain shop equipment and mechanical hand tools. - Welding Under Supervision - Learning Rail Car Repair under supervision - Perform routine maintenance work according to a preventative maintenance schedule. - Develop basic skills in car repair and welding through on-the-job training. - Assist in keeping shop neat and orderly.
